Interlude...

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your comments and support for Ben. I haven't received any mail from him for a while, most likely because he was out in the field wrapping up the remainder of Basic Training. If my calculations are correct, he should have finished Basic either yesterday or today.

Keep checking back. I'll post his mail as soon as it comes in.

-Terrence

Sorry...I'm not putting two and two together. Is this Ben's old roommate Brian from Kensington?

I am a little confused too, Terrence! Aren't there are two Brians?; Tehachapi Brian (and yes, in my world, you and Marla will always Tehachapi kids) and there is also Kensington Brian. I believe Kensington Brian left a message on our phone. I tried to call him back and leave Ben's blog address, but maybe I'm confused.

Anyway, Terrance, Marty and I want to thank you for faithfully posting Ben's letters. We check nearly every day to see what's new. We would like to treat you and your wife (?) to a steak dinner in appreciation for the time and effort you've given. It means so much to us!

Hi guys,
Ben graduated from basic at 0100 hours (that's 1:00 a.m. to us civilians) on Friday June 2nd after their last FTX (field training exercise). It was a nine mile march back to camp that night (with 80 pound packs) so the celebration was very brief. They were all in bed by 0130 hours. At 04:45 hours Friday morning they were up and back at training.
Ben had an infected ingrown toenail when they got back to the fort. The doc removed the toenail and gave him some antibiotics. He started his AIT (advanced individual training) on Monday June 5th. This is his MP (military police) training. They will cover military law, civilian law, ROE (rules of engagement), arrest and control techniques, etc. Ben said he thought he would be getting on-base weekend passes every weekend while he's in AIT.

Thank you Terence for keeping everyone informed by putting Ben's letters on his blog. Like my wife said, we owe you a steak dinner and a movie when Ben gets home.

Hi Marty and Karen!

Thanks for the kind words. It's been a pleasure posting Ben's letters for you and other friends and family to read. Not sure that I earned it, but we're happy to take you up on the steak dinner offer. It'd be great to finally meet you both and I've always wanted to see Tehachapi and do some of that fishing/hunting that Ben's told me so much about, too!

Thanks for the update on Ben. As always, I'll post the new letters as soon as they arrive.

Brian - I do remember you. Glad that you found the blog, hope you are well, and talk to you soon!

Terrence
